Learning to Forage for Dinner

This is a picture of one of my very first foraged meals of wild mushrooms and some stuffed zucchini blossoms from the garden. The wild mushroom species pictured here are: Leccinum spp. (top right), Russula lutea (bottom), and Hydnum repandum (top left).

If you are interested in learning how to eat wild foods - get yourself a couple good field guides for your geographical area, one for edible & medicinal wild plants, and one for edible mushrooms. My favorite guides (for my area) are: Mushrooms Demystified and Edible & Medicinal Plants of the Rockies

***Always be sure of your identification before eating any wild plant or fungi. Do not rely on pictures alone, as some edibles have poisonous look-a-likes. A reliable field guide, for your area, should be consulted until the plant/fungi is well known to you.
