Whipped Body Butter: Small Batch

While doing research on how to make my own cosmetics, I found dozens of recipes for body butter, but they all seemed to be large batches, or really complicated! Then I came across this little tidbit of information; the basic ratio of ingredients for a body butter is 75% solid to 25% liquid oil

With that tip in hand I set out to make myself a single jar recipe, only enough to fill an old Nivea cream jar, and here it is...
1/4 c Shea Butter
2 tbsp Coconut Oil
2 tbsp Calendula Infused Olive Oil
1/4 tsp Vitamin E
(1-2 drops of skin-friendly essential oil if you want, but I prefer unscented skin care products)

1. Put the Shea Butter and Coconut Oil in a double boiler. Simmer on low until they are melted together.
2. Add the Calendula Infused Olive Oil and Vitamin E, (essential oil) and stir.
3. Place into a small bowl, that you can still use beaters in.
4. Let cool to room temperature.
5. Place in freezer for a few minutes to begin solidification, not too long or it will freeze to the sides and make clumps.
6. Whip with beaters until you reach a nice, thick and creamy consistency.
7. Place in sterilized jar, and let it set up in the fridge. Afterwards, it does not need to be refrigerated, but don't store it anywhere too warm or it may begin to liquify.

This only cost me $2.00 to make!!!
It is rich, ultra moisturizing, and melts deliciously with only your body heat, also making it a perfect (non-runny) massage oil!

You could make this recipe even more simple by just using 3 parts solid oil, and 1 part liquid oil. That is only 2 ingredients!! However, I recommend the vitamin E if you don't want to keep it in the fridge.
